Each season the Poconos lives up to its promise... the spring is fresh, lively and green; the summer fragrant, warm and inviting; the fall plentiful, colorful and sweet; and the winter pure, silent and majestic. Festivals, activities, indoor and outdoor life never slow.
Hundreds of events and activities take place in the Pocono Mountains each year. Music or ethnic festivals, holiday celebrations, sidewalk sales, whitewater rafting days and NASCAR are some of the exciting events that make the Poconos so popular.

The two-day indoor festival at Split Rock Resort and Golf Club will feature close to 30 of America's finest classic and micro-breweries offering tastes of their latest brews. Musical entertainment will be performed on two different stages, while crafts and artwork will be on exhibition and for sale. Each attendee will receive a commemorative beer tasting glass to take home and be at least 21 years of age to enter. Seminars on various beer related topics will be featured throughout the festival.
Learn the art of making glass beads with a torch and rods of glass. Beads are a big hobby right now, and lampwork beads are the best. When you can make the gorgeous focals, you will be able to make great jewelry. The cost of this class is $40 per hour with a three hour minimum for a private lesson. Open studio tours are available everyday from 1-3pm.
Take an introductory class with and make a suncatcher. Spend one on one class time, in the studio, with Nic the master artist. The cost of the class is $35 per hour with a three hour minimum for a private lesson. Price does not include materials. Open studio tours everyday from 1-3pm.

All anglers interested in landing a monster trout and winning one of 100 prizes should be fishing the Lackawaxen River. In addition to the thousands of fish stocked by the PA Fish and Boat Commission, the Lackawaxen Township Business Owners Association will stock 100 five to ten pound trout between The Settler's Inn in Hawley and the Zane Gray Bridge in Lackawaxen. This is the third year for the hugely successful Monster Trout Derby. There is no entry fee or pre-sign up. Just go fishing, get lucky and win a prize. All fish are tagged and the tag numbers corresponds with each fish's sponsor.
The "Scranton Limited" short rain rides will continue operating Wednesdays through Sundays. There is a $3 charge for this ride, all ages 6 and older, in addition to the daily park entrance fee. The park entrance fee at Steamtown NHS is just $6 per adult, ages 17 and older. Children under age 16, accompanied by an adult, are admitted to the park at no cost. The entrance fee includes parking and access to the outdoor grounds, the museum complex, walking tours and the park movie, "Steel and Steam." These 30-minute train rides depart from the Core Complex boarding area at 10:30am and 11:30am, and 1:30pm and 2:15pm, operating with a historic diesel locomotive on Wednesdays.
Join a costumed GhostGuide for intriguing tales of ghoulish encounters along Broadway. Start at the Inn at Jim Thorpe. Cover a mile roundtrip to the Old Jail, approximately one hour, outdoors. Walk-ins welcome, reservations strongly recommended. Tickets available from the GhostHost in the lobby of the Inn 15 min before walk. Adults/$10, children 7-12/$5.

Most know Bernie Williams from his 16-year career with the New York Yankees, where he was a four-time World Series Champion and a five-time All Star. When Williams wasn't playing center field for the Bronx Bombers, he was playing the guitar. After he retired from baseball it was no surprise when he released his first album, The Journey Within, in 2003. Bernie's latest album, Moving Forward debuted at #2 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Chart. Event only tickets are $50 per person. Dinner and show tickets are $255 per couple. The Fernwood Public Safety Department is hosting its annual "Caring for Kids" Christmas Bazaar at the Fernwood Event Center. The annual event raises funds to provide Christmas to local families in need. The day includes the craft bazaar, a free Create-An-Ornament children's activity, raffle of handmade items, food, and an opportunity to have your photo taken with Santa for a $5 donation. The Christmas Bazaar will begin at 10am.
The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers and Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits. Tickets are $13/children, $15/seniors and $17/adults. Performances will be held at 7:30pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.
You have to see GMSC live to get the full impact. Songwriter and lead singer Joziah Longo has an incantatory presence that's 70% tongue in cheek and 30% sho'nuff spiritual. Like a benevolent wizard (think a less hyperactive Ian Anderson), he's the center of a huge, dark, invigorating storm of sound. Tickets are $25 and $28. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:30pm.
Hypnotist and mentalist, John Stetson and Mike Mittman Disco Dance Party. Gypsies Nightclub and Lounge is the hottest club in the Pocono Mountains.
Reserved seating tickets are $42 premium and $37 regular. $3 transaction fee per ticket added at purchase. Doors open at 6pm and the show will begin at 8pm.

During the Festival of Lights, the Phifer Ice dam Park takes on a magical holiday glow with more than 400,000 lights in a giant outdoor walk-through display as the sounds of the season are heard throughout the park. Santa will appear at the festival nightly up until Christmas. The festival will continue December 4-6, 11-13, 19-23 and 27-28, 2009. Donation of $4 for adults and $1 children 6-12 years.
